Wattworks AI ("Wattworks," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Project Summary RAG web application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Service at app.wattworks-ai.com and our marketing site at wattworks-ai.com.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect information provided through our authentication provider, Clerk, such as your name, email address, organization membership, and authentication identifiers. Your organization administrator may also assign roles and access permissions within the Service.
Documents and project content
When you use the Service, you and your organization may upload documents (such as PDF and Word files), create projects, run question sets, and generate chat messages and answers. This content is stored and processed to provide document indexing, search, and AI-assisted question answering scoped to your organization's workspaces.
Usage and technical information
We automatically collect certain technical information when you access the Service, including IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and timestamps. We may also collect logs related to API requests, errors, and performance to operate and improve the Service.
Billing information
If your organization subscribes to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive subscription status, billing identifiers, and limited transaction metadata from Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Authenticate users and enforce organization-level access controls
- Store, index, and search uploaded documents on behalf of your organization
- Generate AI-assisted answers and citations from your document library
- Process subscriptions, trials, and billing through Stripe
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the Service
- Monitor usage, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability and security
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including Clerk (authentication and user management), Stripe (payments), and Cloudflare (hosting, storage, queues, and AI search infrastructure). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Within your organization. Content and activity in a workspace may be visible to other members of your organization according to roles and permissions set by your administrator.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wattworks, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. AI processing and document content
Uploaded documents and queries submitted through the Service are processed using AI and search technologies to generate responses and citations. Processing is scoped to your organization's tenant and project workspaces. We use this content solely to provide the Service to you and your organization, not to train public foundation models on your proprietary documents unless we separately obtain your consent.
5. Data retention
We retain account information and organization content for as long as your account or organization subscription is active and as needed to provide the Service. You or your organization administrator may delete projects and documents within the Service. We may retain certain records as required for billing, security, backup, or legal compliance.
6. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including tenant isolation for organization workspaces, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Account profile updates may be available through Clerk's account management features. For organization-held content, contact your organization administrator. 8. International transfers
The Service is operated from the United States and may involve processing in other countries where our service providers maintain facilities. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
